Call for Action

Flooding in Tennessee

Many of our fellow members have lost all or some of their massage equipment and supplies in this horrific flood.
If you can help, the Mind Body Institute at 2416 Music Valley Drive, Suite 119, Nashville, TN 37214 is hosting the drop off point for any items you are able to donate.
The items will go directly to the members who were effected.  615-885-1223

The next few months will be even harder as we work to rebuild our homes and business's and this is when the true spirit of Volunteerism will come thru.
Their are many people who will need food, water and cleaning supplies as well as massage products so if you can help us help them it will be greatly appreciated.

The stress of this situation is huge and as a massage therapist myself I understand the importance of stepping back for a few moments, taking a breath and getting a massage to help decompress.  We have sponsored some massage relief for the next few weeks to be held at the Mind Body Institute so that the flood victims and volunteers of all kinds can have a place to go and receive a FREE 30 minute massage or a one hour massage for only $30.  If you have time and are able to donate your talent by providing some of these massages please call 615-885-1223 to get on the schedule of giving back.

I have been a member of AMTA TN Chapter for around 13 years now and thought I truly understood why I volunteered on this chapter and how it helped.  Being in this situation now hasn't changed my view on why I volunteer it has reinforced it and also shown me just how much of an impact one volunteer can have.  When a total stranger offers to give you a ride in his boat to rescue your animals from your home, that is a hero!  When people you have never met just start leaving cases of water and cleaning supplies on your (now dry) front porch, those are hero's!  When the only question anyone around you is asking is "How can I help" that is a hero!
The word Volunteer has a whole new meaning to me now and you can bet I will carry that forward as I continue to volunteer for AMTA as long as I am physically able!

As your chapter President I want you all to know that the board you elected and the committee chairs I have appointed have stepped up and went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that myself and my husband were taken care of, that our business went on running with little interruption and that our TN Chapter Spring Conference would go on despite the devastation.  They are hero's to us.

I can't thank you all enough for all your help and concern, but I can promise to turn around and give back immediately myself.

Thank you

Maj-Lis Nash, LMT
